About Three Phase Open Enclosure Motors
The 10 HP Three Phase Open Enclosure Motor features an IP 55 rating. This means the motors are semi-weatherproof and are designed for dry environments. The first five indicates its protection against dust while the second five indicates its protection against water. Three phase open enclosure motors have dual voltage and can be used for continuous duty. All of our three phase motors come with a guaranteed 36-month warranty from the purchase date.
MG1 Part 31 specifies that these motors are for VFD use. The 10 HP Three Phase Open Enclosure Motor has a 1.15 service factor, a 40°C ambient temperature rating, an inverter rated - 20:1 variable torque, and is class 1, division 2, and groups A, B, C, and D compliant. Every one of our three phase open enclosure motors features a rubber slinger, double lip oil seals, dual oversized bearings, 300 series stainless steel shafts, a stainless steel nameplate, tropicalization on the stator winding, one-way brass condensation drains, and multi-mount removable feet. The conduit box is rotatable for up to 90°. The three phase open enclosure motor is F1, F2, and F3 field convertible, and it’s shipped F1.
Open Drip Proof (ODP) Motors
An Open Drip Proof (ODP) motor is a type of three phase open enclosure motor. These motors are designed for industrial and commercial applications—such as for HVAC systems and appliances. They’re reasonably priced and often the cheapest option when you’re looking for a general-use motor. The primary difference between open drip proof motors and other types of three phase motors is that this type of system is designed to run cooler and does not overheat due to an open chamber with vents that allows for greater airflow.
Open drip proof motors don’t need external cooling because they have an internal cooling system. This internal cooling system makes these motors more efficient than other motor types. The only downside is that open drip proof motors should not be used outside because the open vents leave the internal chamber susceptible to damage. Open drip motors should be used only in clean, indoor spaces.
