Family Business, Engineering Excellence

Daniel Floreancig has been in the electric motor and phase converter field for 50+ years — he has rewound, redesigned, and innovated solutions from all over the world. His son Glen runs day-to-day operations as the solutions guy who gets it done when others can't.

We are here to help, customer or not. There are very few people in the industry with this level of experience. Not everything has to be replaced if it's not working, and not everything that is three-phase needs a phase converter. We enjoy what we do.

Sizing Guide
Right-Size Your Converter
Proper sizing ensures optimal performance and motor longevity.

The 2x Rule

Always size your phase converter at LEAST 2x the horsepower of your largest motor. For hard-starting loads like compressors or CNC machines, you may need even more headroom for reliable operation.

Quick Reference

1-2 HP Motor → GP5 Converter
3 HP Motor → GP7 Converter
5 HP Motor → GP10 Converter
7 HP Motor → GP15 Converter
10 HP Motor → GP20 Converter

How It Works
Single to Three-Phase Conversion
Our rotary phase converters create the missing third phase using precision-engineered idler motors and capacitors.
1

Single-Phase Input

Two conductors deliver power that pulsates — dropping to zero twice per cycle. This causes vibration and inefficient motor operation.

2

Phase Converter

Our rotary converter uses an idler motor and precision capacitors to generate the missing third phase, creating balanced three-phase power.

3

True Three-Phase Output

Three conductors each 120° apart deliver continuous power that never drops to zero. Smoother torque, greater efficiency, longer motor life.

FAQ
Common Questions
Get answers from our engineering team before you buy.
How much power does a phase converter consume when idle?

A rotary phase converter consumes approximately 25-30% of its rated HP when running idle. For example, a 10 HP converter uses about 2.5-3 HP when idling, which is minimal compared to the motors it powers.

Can I run multiple machines from one converter?

Yes! Size the converter to handle your total connected load. An NL series is perfect for this — it runs continuously and can power multiple machines as they cycle on and off.

Are Phoenix converters safe for CNC machines?

Absolutely. Our converters deliver 3-5% voltage balance across all three phases — often better than utility-supplied power. This precision is perfect for sensitive CNC and automation equipment.

What's the difference between rotary and static converters?

Static converters only help motors start — they don't provide true three-phase power during operation. Rotary converters like ours provide continuous, balanced three-phase power for optimal motor performance and longevity.

What else do I need to purchase besides the converter?

Our converters come complete and ready to install. You'll just need appropriate breakers and wire gauge as specified in our installation manual. We include all necessary documentation and support.
