A few quick questions so we can assist you better
Quick Check
A humming converter that won't start usually means:
- Low voltage - Wire may be too small or the run is too long
- Weak service - Your electrical service may not be strong enough
- Starting under load - Make sure all equipment is OFF before starting (including transformers)
- Loose connections - Check that all wire connections are good and tight
Quick Check
Strange noises or vibration can be caused by:
- Fused contactor - The two pole contactor may be fused together
- Voltage drop - Your single phase line voltage may be dropping
- Wiring issue - The motor may be connected wrong

Watch on YouTubeWhen does the breaker trip?
Instant Trip - Quick Check
If the breaker trips instantly, either:
- Breaker is too small - Converter needs a larger breaker for startup surge
- Wrong breaker type - Not rated for motor load (needs overload type breaker)
- Direct short - You have a direct short somewhere in the wiring
Delayed Trip - Quick Check
If the breaker trips after a second or more:
- Check motor connections - Make sure the motor is connected properly
- Do not use wire nuts - Use proper terminal connections instead
- Check your voltage - See if single phase line is dropping below 215 volts
