DualZone Phase Converter Wiring Guide

The DualZone Series uses two idler motors in a single oversized panel for maximum power output — 40 HP to 200+ HP. Wiring a DualZone converter requires connecting both idler motors correctly to ensure balanced three-phase output. Follow this guide and share it with your licensed electrician.

DualZone Wiring Overview

The DualZone panel contains two separate sets of terminals — one per idler motor. Both motors must be connected and running to produce full rated output. Key points:

• Each idler motor has its own L1/L2/L3 terminal block
• Single-phase input (L1/L2) feeds both motors from a shared bus
• Three-phase output is taken from the combined output of both motors
• Both motors must spin up before connecting your equipment load
• Use polaris plugs or bolt-down lugs — never wire nuts on motor terminals

Input Wiring

• Single-phase 230V input from your breaker panel
• Breaker size: 2x the total FLA of all connected equipment
• Wire gauge: sized per NEC 310.16 for your run length and conduit fill
• Keep input run under 50 feet where possible — use 4/0 AWG or larger for 40-75 HP

Output Wiring

• Three-phase 230V output to your equipment
• Run in conduit for all permanent installations
• Label all three output legs (T1/T2/T3) at both ends
• Install a disconnect between the DualZone and your equipment for safety
